Five Minutes with Dr. Mark Lim - Halley Medical Aesthetics

Ever wondered who your doctor is apart from… being your doctor? Take a five-minute walk with Dr. Mark Lim, as he shares with us more about himself outside of his doctor duties.

This June, we are welcoming Dr. Mark Lim into the Halley Medical Aesthetics and Halley Body Slimming Clinic family. Dr. Lim has been practising medical aesthetics since 2016. Over the years, he developed a keen interest in treatments dedicated to anti-ageing, in particular the use of dermal fillers for facial rejuvenation and to help his patients achieve beauty from the inside to out.

Medical aesthetics aside, get to know Dr. Lim better while you schedule your next appointment with him!

Tell us something about yourself that not many people know.

Dr. Mark Lim: Cookies and milk must go together. If I have cookies, I must have milk. And if I have milk, I must have my cookies. I suspect that I’m lactose intolerant, but I refuse to give up my dairy indulgences. And I pay the consequences.

Share with us a book you have read recently.

Dr. Mark Lim: I just finished reading “Factfulness” by Hans Rosling, a Swedish professor who was popularised by his series of TED Talks. The book is a light and engaging read that illuminates how our human instincts distort our perspectives, and also the importance of well informed, objective opinions.

What is your favourite sport?

Dr. Mark Lim: I love ultimate frisbee, which I picked up during my days in university. It can be as relaxing or as exhausting as you want it to be. I also love snowboarding and the rush of speed that comes with flashing down the slopes. There is an incredible allure in the simplicity of a human descending a mountain on a board.

What do you do during your free time?

Dr. Mark Lim: I enjoy lazing on the couch with my girlfriend watching Netflix. Our latest favourite series is “Terrace House”! Apart from that, I enjoy a good swim and sunshine.

What is the scariest thing you have ever done?

Dr. Mark Lim: Because I enjoy “scary” experiences such as bungee jumping, skydiving, and cliff jumping, my friends think I’m an adrenaline junkie although I dislike the label. I think the scariest thing I’ve done by far is probably falling in love.

Last but not least, what is your definition of beauty?

Dr. Mark Lim: While there is naked truth in the adage, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder”, my definition of beauty is the self-love and self confidence in the way we perceive ourselves. I feel privileged every day that I get to play a small part in helping people realise that.
