In this video, Dr. Terence Tan of Halley Medical Aesthetics walks you through the basics of dermal fillers, from what dermal fillers are made of to what they can do for you and how long they can last.
Firstly, dermal fillers are categorised into hyaluronic acid fillers, and non-hyaluronic acid or collagen-stimulating fillers. Many dermal filler brands contain hyaluronic acid, which is a natural compound found in our body that helps to hydrate and volumise our skin. Collagen-stimulating fillers generate collagen growth over time for natural volumisation.
Dermal fillers are generally used for two purposes, anti-ageing and facial contouring. For anti-ageing, dermal fillers restore volume to our face to treat age-related sagginess and wrinkles due to skin laxity and facial volume loss. For facial contouring, dermal fillers can sculpt our face to give our face more definition and enhance our facial features.
